You can use the cPanel Domains tool to add both subdomains (like blog.yourdomain.com
) and extra domains (separate full domains) to your hosting account.
Step 1: Open the Domains Tool
- Log in to your cPanel account
- Click on Domains
- Click the Create a New Domain button
To Add a Subdomain
- In the domain field, enter something like
sub.yourdomain.com
- Uncheck Share document root to give it its own folder
- Click Submit
To Add an Extra Domain (Addon Domain)
- Enter your full domain name (example:
newdomain.com
) - Uncheck Share document root to isolate it
- Click Submit
Where are files stored?
At Akashi Hosting, all subdomains and addon domains are stored outside public_html by default. Each gets its own folder at the account root level for better isolation and organization.
DNS Notes
- Subdomains automatically generate A records in the Zone Editor
- Addon domains must be pointed to our nameservers before they work
- If you're using an external DNS manager, be sure to point the A record to your server IP
