How do I set up MX records for my domain?

MX (Mail Exchange) records specify the mail servers responsible for receiving email on behalf of your domain.

Step 1: Access your domain’s DNS settings

Log in to your domain registrar or DNS provider. If your domain uses Akashi Hosting’s nameservers, you can manage MX records through the cPanel Zone Editor.

Step 2: Add or edit MX records

  • Name/Host: @ or your domain name (example: yourdomain.com)
  • Type: MX
  • Priority: 0 (or as required by your mail provider)
  • Destination: mail.yourdomain.com or the mail server hostname
  • TTL: Leave as default or set to 3600

Step 3: Save and wait for propagation

DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate. Use tools like MXToolbox MX Lookup to verify your MX records.

Automatic MX Setup with Akashi Hosting Nameservers

If your domain uses Akashi Hosting’s nameservers, MX records are usually configured automatically for you. Manual changes are only needed if you use external DNS or custom mail setups.
